It’s the small victories we didn’t even know we’d celebrate.
Like clean laundry after almost a week. We’ve quickly discovered that there are a handful of things that must all work together to achieve a beautifully strung line of clothing.
Because what seems like a “given” is not always so. The power goes on and off, sometimes daily, for no apparent reason. And the city of Jarabacoa shut off the water after the tropical storm. And though we were stoked to have the water come back on after a couple days, we discovered that it wasn’t like before. It was muddy and murky, coming from the river following the abundant rainfall.
We reached out to our Doulos mentor for thoughts on washing with the muddy water and she playfully shared, “I just tell myself it is God telling me to take a break. Or just wash darks. But mostly I figure the Lord is speaking.” Ha! So we took full advantage of our God-given laundry break until shorts and undies ran low. Then we slayed SIX full loads of line dried laundry today. Six loads of washing, spinning, rinsing, spinning in our Dominican washer. All those small victories are now piled high and dry on our bed.
Tonight I choose to be grateful for clean(ish) clothes!
